Daily Planet meeting
I learned a lot about people in general on Tuesday after visiting the Daily Planet. Steve and I related on the simplest of terms by just talking about fishing and Colleen told our group how she came from a very artistic family, much like myself. I really enjoyed sharing stories and just listening to what each person had to say. When we arrived I was definitely nervous about how the people at the Daily planet would be and how nice they were and was pleasantly surprised to find some very neat personalities in Steve and Colleen. This experience grounds you and makes you understand how important it is to put others before yourself.
Learning about how Steve sleeps in an alley in Oregon Hill really put things in perspective. I would be going home that night to an apartment in the fan and he would be going to find shelter behind a Rug store. I am really looking forward to hearing more stories about these individuals. In fact I was thinking about how neat it would be to buy a cheap digital camcorder and giving it to Steve to film his life on the streets. This experience puts a face on something that most people just ignore so what a great opportunity to reveal through video how someone’s life really is on the streets.
